Railways of Uzbekistan
The history of development of railways in territory of Uzbekistan originates since 1874 when the special commission has recognized necessary construction of a branch line Orenburg-Tashkent. However later the decision has been changed - the first steel highway should connect Tashkent to east coast of Caspian sea.
Construction of Caspian of the railway has been begun in November, 1880. In five years builders have reached Ashkhabad, and in 1886 - Chardzhou. In May, 1888 when the wooden bridge through Amu Darya has been erected, movement up to Samarkand has opened. In 1899 the road has reached Tashkent. The site from station Ursatevskaya to Fergana valley has simultaneously been constructed also.
In the end of the last century again there was a question on construction of road from Tashkent up to Orenburg which construction have started in the autumn of 1900 simultaneously from Tashkent and Orenburg. In January, 1906 the road Tashkent-Orenburg has become operational, having opened for Central Asia a direct output to the Central Russia.
