Chashma-Ayub

Chashma-Ayub belongs to esteemed "places of trace" ("kadamjoi") left by saint persons. The legend says that once the bible prophet Job (Ayub) visited this place. A blow of this staff made a well ("chashma"). Its water remains pure to this day. It is considered curative. Legends inform that cultic structure existed here already in the 12^th century. The inscription on the portal reads that today's structure was built at Amir Temur. Characteristic of Chashma-Ayub is a conic dome, typical of Khorezm architecture in the 13^th-14^th centuries. Probably, Khorezm masters emigrated by Temur might be builders of Chashma-Ayub.
