Chashma-Ayub

Chashma-Ayub belongs to esteemed "places of trace" ("kadamjoi") left by saint persons. The legend says that once the bible prophet Job (Ayub) visited this place. A blow of this staff made a well ("chashma"). Its water remains pure to this day. It is considered curative. Legends inform that cultic structure existed here already in the 12th century. The inscription on the portal reads that today's structure was built at Amir Temur. Characteristic of Chashma-Ayub is a conic dome, typical of Khorezm architecture in the 13th-14th centuries. Probably, Khorezm masters emigrated by Temur might be builders of Chashma-Ayub.
